Come with me to the Torre dello Ziro, a historic circular tower that rises majestically above the valleys, at the top of a mountain in the town of Scala. This promontory is the starting point for an adventure that combines the beauty of nature and the charm of history, offering you a unique experience.

The Torre dello Ziro is wrapped in mystery and legends: it is said that a duchess of Amalfi was imprisoned here, but only by taking the tour will you discover all the details of this fascinating story that makes the place even more magical. The walk is pleasant and will take you through some of the most picturesque landscapes on the Amalfi Coast.

The itinerary begins in Pontone, a charming medieval village in the town of Scala. We’ll walk together up the historic zigzag stairs, which will bring us to the gates of the ancient Castrum Scalellae, the medieval castle that protected the Republic of Amalfi. Walking among the ruins of the ancient defensive walls, we’ll reach the famous circular tower, one of the most iconic points in the Amalfi skyline.

Here, I’ll tell you the story of the city’s defense and its strategic architecture, adding a historical dimension to the tour that will make every step more interesting. This short route can be combined with a visit to the stunning Paper Mills Valley, creating the perfect day for walking enthusiasts. The small medieval village of Pontone will be our starting and ending point, immersing you in the tranquility of the Amalfi Coast.
