DEEP ROOTS

The Breath of the Earth...

My maternal roots are in Amalfi, in the hamlets of Pogerola, Pastena, and Lone, where my ancestors — tireless farmers — cultivated terraced fields overlooking the sea, shaping a landscape still unique in the world today. As a child, my mother told me stories about my great-grandmother Emilia, a legendary, strong woman who cared for vineyards, gardens, and even a chestnut grove in the hills of Amalfi. In those places, the earth breathed slowly, and she knew how to listen.

FROM SICILY TO THE COAST

The Di Benedetto Line:from Sicily to the Coast.

My surname, Di Benedetto, is quite rare on the Amalfi Coast. My paternal ancestors arrived from Sicily in the mid-1700s, soon becoming known as Atrani’s only pasta makers. That old pasta factory is still my relatives’ home today — a family bond crossing centuries.

In 1946, my uncle Gabriele Di Benedetto was elected the first mayor of Atrani after the end of the dictatorship. Ferdinando, my maternal grandfather, worked to open schools in Amalfi’s remote villages, while Andrea, my paternal grandfather — after returning from war in Rhodes, Greece — became principal of Amalfi’s classical high school and a renowned scholar of Greek and Latin.

A Journey through Memories.

Taught by Beauty

A Deep Bond with the Coast.

Since childhood, I was taught to love the Amalfi Coast: my first hike at age three to the Tower of Ziro, nature walks, days among gardens, the October tradition in our family chestnut grove — all remain some of the most beautiful experiences of my life.

My bond with this land grew with every step, living the Coast as one great open-air home: sunsets in Praiano, the views from Ravello, the local festivals bringing life to every village. My first trip to Capri, at just five years old, began a love that has never left me.

WALK WITH ME

A Passion for Discovery.

As I grew, I explored Italy. But a subtle, ancient call drew me back to my land. Once home, my mother’s stories inspired me to dive deeper into its history — through books, trails, and memories.

As a teenager, I discovered walking, which became my life’s direction. In 2017, I chose to make it my profession, becoming a guide and ambassador of the Amalfi Coast and Capri.

This land is made of extraordinary corners and endless stories. Each hike still brings me new emotions and discoveries—and now, I share this path with you.
